All good things must come to an end. Over the next few weeks, Incarnadine Press will be shutting down operations. My life has changed considerably in the last six months, and I have found myself unable to devote any time to game publishing. I believe that when the party’s over, somebody ought to turn out the lights.
Incarnadine products will be coming down from IPR and the Un-store. I have a few physical copies of Serial Homicide Unit remaining. If anyone’s interested in those, let me know.
We’re not away completely. Kat and I still intend on running the Indie Games Explosion at Dreamation 2011.
Thanks to everyone who enjoyed With Great Power… and Serial Homicide Unit (and Discernment and War Stories, too) over the years. I’m glad we could help you have a bit of fun.
As for this blog, I don’t know. I might post about my real life stuff. I might chime in with gaming-related thoughts from time-to-time.
And just as I find WGP as well.
I was hoping just before you turn the lights out if you could point me towards the rules I found mentioned for using the new villain conflict sheet (which I’ll hurriedly download tonight 🙂 )
I’ve been souring the web for play examples as I’m farily new to this style of gaming. And haven’t yet found them.
Thanks
Richard
Hi, Richard.
Glad you’re enjoying the game. The ipressgames website and download section are paid up for nearly another year, so no need to rush. As for the villain conflict rules, that’s something that’s been on my to-do list for years, but not gotten done. Essentially, you have one conflict page per villain, rather than one per hero. You still go around the table, and heroes can play their card to counter the move of whichever villain they’re facing at the moment. No cost to switch pages, as long as it makes sense in terms of the fiction. If a villain yields, all the heroes whose stakes are tied to that villain win their stakes and are out of the remaining conflict. We’ve found it much more compact and streamlined than the one-sheet-per-hero version.
🙁
I was really looking forward to the (eventual) revised edition of With Great Power… since it’s already my favourite superhero RPG out there, and an update promised to make it that much better.
That said, of course life and family have to come first. I hop you and Kat and M are all well and continue to be so going forward. Hopefully I’ll get to see you all at future Vinnie cons 🙂
Nothing is forever, including hiatuseseseses. You’ve given a lot of players some good gaming over the years, and that’s something to be proud of.
I’m sorry to hear you shut down, mostly for selfish reasons–I only heard about WGP in November and now have some money free. (Yeah, sure, you’re saying: one sale. And the game’s been out for how long? But I didn’t know, and I didn’t have the money then. Sorry. If you hear about a used copy someone wants to part with, though, do let me know.)
However, even if I can rue my timing, I am glad you’ve made the move you think is right for you. You have as much right to not-publish as to publish. Good luck on the next stage of your lives.
I hope things go well for you guys.
Hi Michael,
I’ve been trying to contact you, and this seemed like the best post to comment on: I’m working on an article about My Life with Master for Jonathan and Ryan’s ‘Magic Missile’ project. I was wondering how you would feel about me quoting from your Manifesto of Mastery, and applying some of the concepts in it?
